Cases We Handle
Lawyers for Humans
At the Law Offices of Jeffrey A. Garrety, we handle many types of cases. Usually, they have three things in common:
- A human client, not a company
- The defendant is a company, a person represented by an insurance company, or the government
- Our client is injured, has lost a loved one, or can’t work
Many factors go into whether we can help you with your case. The best way to know is to call us at 731-668-4878 or contact us today for a confidential free evaluation. Get a quick and honest opinion.
We Look at Every Angle
We will look for every legal basis for recovery. Sometimes, clients think they have one case but they actually have two or three. For example, if you are in a car accident while working you probably have a workers’ compensation claim. Additionally, if someone else caused the accident, you also also have a personal injury case against the at fault driver. If your employer gets mad at you because of your workers’ compensation claim and fires you, you have third case against your employer for wrongful firing. On the other hand, if a severe injury keeps you from returning to work, you may have a Social Security Disability claim.
Other times, clients think they have one type of case but it’s really another. Every month we get several calls from employees who want to sue their employer for an unsafe workplace that led to their injury. It often shocks them to learn that the only way to sue their employer for their injury is under workers’ compensation.
Even if your case doesn’t seem like one we would handle, we are happy to take a look at it. We may know a lawyer who is the perfect fit for your case. If your injury happened outside Tennessee, still give us a call. Through our experience and affiliation with groups like the Tennessee Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice, we know lawyers all over Tennessee and all over the country. In many cases, we will work as co-counsel with the lawyer in the other state. You get two lawyers for the price of one!
